Prototype implementing basic homeostatic regulation of a living organism — an insect.
If built with neurons (neural networks), it would require a powerful computer, and debugging such a network would be infeasible within reasonable time. However, all natural principles of basic regulation are implemented without neuron emulation—only JavaScript—so this insect can run even on the weakest computer.
The artificial creature Beast is highly complex, as its code is understandable only with knowledge of the MVAP theory. Thus, this simple JavaScript insect allows observing the universal foundation of homeostatic systems, runnable and modifiable on your own computer.
Insect is a functional model of non-social insect behavior (simpler than ants or bees).
It is "alive" because it maintains vital homeostatic parameters; if any critical parameter reaches 100% deviation, it dies.
Goal: demonstrate behavior dependent on homeostatic state, as described in fornit.ru/71586. Theory defined the prototype, and the prototype confirmed/refined the theory.
You can directly control the insect’s state as if implanting perception stimulators into its nervous system—similar to Jose Delgado’s bull experiments. This bypasses environmental simulation via direct stimulation, as if electrodes were implanted into situation recognizers.
The demo allows direct manipulation of the insect’s state to aid or hinder homeostatic recovery.
Crucially, this model is universal across organisms of any complexity and can evolve by adding new regulatory loops, enhancing adaptability up to meaningful novelty comprehension.
This system is the foundational core of the MVAP theory (Model of Volitional Adaptive Psyche).

Example: Press "Pheromone", wait until "Mating urge" reaches 90%, then press "No pheromone" — observe reaction. Then press "Mating partner" to reduce urge via reproductive actions. If you now press "Startle", mating urge drops.
To form a conditional reflex in "Rest" context: slowly alternate "Lemon scent" and "Pleasant breeze". After 3 pairings, "Lemon scent" alone triggers the calming response. This reflex won’t form in other contexts. All logic is clearly documented in the files.
